There are many people wanting puppies right now, of all breeds. There are also many people out there wanting to take advantage of the market. If someone is offering you a purebred puppy for less than $1000, its probably a scammer. If someone wants to sell you a puppy for more than $2500, they are ripping you off and taking advantage of you. My puppies with full breeding rights will never be more than $2200 even though the dog warden told me I'm too cheap and should be charging $2500. Take the time to check out the person you are talking to! You can look up Pennsylvania breeders under our licensing system. I can be found on there (https://www.agriculture.pa.gov/Animals/DogLaw/kennel-licensing-inspections/Pages/default.aspx) Look under my county (Jefferson) and my kennel name (PA's Darling Doxies), you will see that my kennel is open and in good standing with the state. That is the first sign that I am not a scammer. Ask for references. I will be happy to give you the names and numbers of other puppy purchasers. Ask for the name and number of my vet. She will be happy to talk to you. Ask for an address to mail a check to for the deposit. I will be happy to give you mine. A scammer won't because often they are sitting at a computer in a third world country! Ask for a picture of the puppy with a piece of paper with today's date and your name written on it. I'll be happy to do it! These will all be good ways to keep you from handing your money over to a scammer or wasting your money with a rip-off. I talked to one lady who paid $8000 to get a puppy. She took out a loan. That's like buying a car! When you put a deposit on one of my puppies you will receive a puppy deposit form in response soon afterwards and pictures, videos and text updates on your new baby at least weekly, many times more often. You won't get that from a scammer or a breeder who is in it to rip you off. I've talked to any number of people who have been scammed and paid exorbitant amounts for puppies. Its happening folks! I'm sorry that it's happening, but people want puppies to love and these criminals are taking advantage of that! I assure you that I won't. Please note, my cell phone has a Maryland (410) area code because I I lived in Maryland when I got the phone many years ago, its not because I am in any way fraudulent. I just don't have a land line and don't want to change my phone number.
